Resilience of agricultural systems project
Balé Province
Organisation Catholique pour le Développement et la Solidarité (OCADES) Dédougou
The problems facing the agricultural sector in the Boromo commune can be summed up as follows: decline in the productivity of agricultural systems, reduction in production areas, changes to production systems and ecosystems, reduction in plant cover, silting up and drying out of rivers, low level of participation by women and young people in local development processes, which hinders their empowerment and self-fulfilment, lack of local governance and consultation between the various stakeholders in the area, which hampers the implementation of public policies tailored to the needs of the local population.
Strengthening the resilience of agricultural systems in rural communities in Boromo commune
The target villages have a total population of 15,383. Considering that a producer can benefit from 3 or even more activities, we have considered at least 3,270 people as direkt beneficiaries. These beneficiaries are producers, processors and their organisations.
The total budget is set at € 1 820 000 for the period 2024 to 2028.
The project is financed by the Ministry of Foreign and European affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade (80%) and by the beneficiaries (1.5%). The remaining 20% is to be financed by CPS through donations.
