Promoting the agro-ecological and energy transitions in Senegal
Why This Project Matters
Context:
The problems identified are essentially linked to the decrease in agricultural production, the low level of exploitation of the economic potential of agro-ecology, the gradual degradation of natural resources and the environment, and a lack of training and support for farmers.
Development Objective :
Promoting the agro-ecological and energy transition for employment and the climate in the communes of Paoskoto and Taiba Naisséne
Expected Outcomes:
- Individual and collective farms are implementing agro-ecology and using renewable energies
- Agro-ecological production on supported farms is increasing annually and improving living conditions for the families
- Areas threatened by pollution, erosion and deforestation around the Keur Diatta basin are reforested and protected
- Sustainable and viable agro-ecological and energy transition models are identified and jobs are created
Beneficiaries
The group of direct beneficiaries includes 12 agro-ecological farms, the team from the Keur Diatta inter-communal cooperation, as well as the local councils of Paoskoto and Taiba Naisséne.
