Why This Project Matters

Context:

The gross enrolment rate in Banfora and Tiéfora is significantly below the national averages, with primary education at 81.3% and secondary education at only 19.7%. Factors contributing to this include poverty, inadequate school infrastructure, long distances to schools, and gender discrimination. Additionally, access to clean water and proper sanitation remains a critical challenge due to insufficient infrastructure and a lack of awareness about hygiene practices.

Development Objective :

To sustainably improve access to essential social services—education, water, and sanitation—for households in these communities.

Expected Outcomes:

• Access to drinking water and full sanitation is improved
• Access to quality education is ensured
• Local governance is improved

Beneficiaries

The project aims to benefit the entire population of the nine target villages, including students, teachers, parents, school management committees, water user associations, and local authorities. This initiative is set to positively impact approximately 13,000 individuals.

Our Funding Needs

The total budget for this project is €1,800,000, allocated for the period from 2024 to 2028.

• Beneficiaries: 1.5%
• CPS Through Donations: 18.5%
