Projet d’adaptation au changement climatique

Location

Five villages in Toma municipality, Nayala province, region of the Boucle du Mouhoun

Local Partner Organisation

Organisation catholique pour le développement et la solidarité (OCADES) Burkina in the diocese of Dédougou

Context

The population in the target villages in the municipality of Toma is living mainly from farming, animal husbandry and forest resources. People are living in precarious conditions and are heavily dependent on the environment and the climate.

Objectifs

Helping local communities build their resilience to climate change impacts on the environment and natural resources. The project aims in particular at:

  • Promoting farming and grazing practices that are adapted to climate change
  • Supporting local initiatives for the promotion of renewable energies and ecology
  • Contributing to the sustainable management of local forest resources
Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are the about 9 000 people from the 5 target villages.

In addition, the project will also benefit to the diocesan OCADES and to the public and private local institutions participating in the project.

Budget

The total budget is set at € 500 000 for the period 2018 to 2022, so € 100 000 per year.

Funding

The project is funded up to 100% by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development.
